Company description Baba's Pierogies was the brain child of Helen and Bob (business and life partners). As a young girl growing up immersed in her families Slovak culture Helen and her sister had dreamed the idea of selling their grandmas pierogies out of a storefront in Brooklyn. Bob, a chef and fresh food enthusiast, loved Helens idea and business aspirations, so he wanted in....Poof... Baba's Pierogies became a reality born in the small Brooklyn apartment they shared, through learning the much held secrets of Baba's (grandmas) kitchen they were able to develop and expand on a menu with traditional and fun tweaks to classic dishes and pierogi. At the present day Gowanus located Baba's Pierogies we continue the traditions of those humble home business days, still rolling out the dough like Baba, by hand, only cooking our pierogi from fresh, never par cooked and definitely never frozen! We love to teach our staff the importance of making fresh food from scratch, the results of which can be heard in the murmurings at the tables in our restaurant or on the faces of our patrons. We believe you can get pierogi all through out the city, but none will taste as good as Baba's because of the care we take in producing fresh food the way grandma would serve at her table. We are looking for someone with some kitchen prep experience, this position is for a job as a pierogi maker; the pierogi maker is responsible for making the majority of what we serve at Baba's Pierogies, which is the PIEORGI, an Eastern European dumpling traditionally filled with potato or cheese. Each pierogi is made by hand from freshly rolled out dough (similar to an Italian pasta dough), once the dough had been rolled out it is cut into circles and each one is filled with one of Baba's specialty fillings, then they are skillfully sealed by our pierogi makers. If you are interested in pasta making or dumpling making and have experience preparing food in a restaurant kitchen then this job is for you.

  • knowledge of pasta and dough making
  • capable of preparing pierogi quickly and consistently through a minimum 5 hour shift
  • great attitude, great work ethic!
  • can lift 50lb
  • 3 years restaurant experience
  • Pastry chef experience is a plus
  • Pasta making experience is a plus
  • capable of standing for long period of time
  • able to anticipate needs of kitchen
