Job Description: Agriculture Program Manager

 

Wages: $30,000

Work Type: Salaried

Hours Minimum per week: NA

Hours Maximum per week: NA

Benefits Offered: 2 Weeks paid vacation per year, 7 Paid holiday days during year, Paid time off during winter farm closure.

Evaluation of Position: After first 60 days followed by every 3 months.

The Old School Farm Agriculture Program Manager is responsible for all day to day activities that work towards improving, continuing, and growing the Old School Farm Agriculture Program. The programs mission is to create educational, vocational, and skill based opportunities for people of all abilities through integrated employment.  

 

The Old School Farm Agriculture Program is a division of the Old School Farm. While the agriculture program functions as a separate department the mission and work that the agriculture program provides directly impacts all other departments of the Old School Farm. The Old School Farm Agriculture Program Manager will oversee all aspects of the program and the employees within the program.

Job Duties:

Overview:

The Agriculture Program Manager is responsible for oversite of the agriculture program for the  Old School Farm. The Agriculture Program Manager will be responsible for the budget and administrative work of the agriculture program to ensure that it is successful in its operation and growth. The Agriculture Program Manager will be responsible for presenting monthly financials projections/reports and yearly budgets to the Executive Director. As well as quarterly updates to the Board of Directors. The Agriculture Program Manager and the Executive Director will work together to set pricing for the retail offerings and class offerings. The Agriculture Program  Manager will report directly to the Executive Director. The Agriculture Program Manager will seek approval from the Executive Director for all staffing related items and will seek the approval from the Executive Director on any purchases for the studio over $200. This positional will require the holder to keep an active list of all properties past/present owned by the Old School Farm.

Additional duties may be assigned by the Executive Director.

 

Staff Oversite:

It will be the Agriculture Program Managers responsibility to oversee all staff and volunteers who work on and visit the farm. It will be the Agriculture Program Managers responsibility to ensure that all staff and volunteers are happy with their work environment and safe while visiting the farm. The Agriculture Program Manger should strive for high employee retention rates and job satisfaction. It will be the Agriculture Program Managers responsibility to provide oversite, feedback, and reviews for all staff and artists using the space provided.  The Agriculture Program Manager shall ensure a full and adequate staff is available for the program. The Agriculture Program Manage shall have direct oversite over all Agriculture employees including the Assistant Farm Manager.

 

Purchase Power:

The Agriculture Program Manager will have purchasing power for the Agriculture Program up to $200 without approval from Executive Director. A debit card will be issued to the Agriculture Program Manager for purchasing use.

 

Sales:

The Agriculture Program Manager will be responsible for seeking out new restaurants and customers for the Old School Farm to sell produce to. All revenue will belong to the Old School Farm and all monies paid will be paid to the Old School Farm directly. The Agriculture Program Manager will be responsible to ensure Old School Farm is well represented at no less than two different farmers markets in the Nashville Area. The Agriculture Program Manager will be responsible for the CSA Program and the distribution of produce.  

 

Farm:

The Agriculture Program Manager will be responsible for up keep of all equipment, livestock, and buildings used by the Agriculture Program. The Agriculture Program Manager will be responsible for ordering, planting, maintaining, and harvesting all produce and ensuring healthy livestock.

 

Education:

The Agriculture Program Manage will work with the Education Coordinator on field trips and volunteers.  

 

Fundraising and Grant Writing:

The Agriculture Program Manager will be responsible for assisting the Executive Director in generating funding. This may include seeking out and applying for grants and assisting with fundraisers when needed. It will be the responsibility of this position to ensure that funding is secured to move the program into the black. Should the Agriculture Program Manager not have availability to apply for grants they should still seek out leads and refer them to the Executive Director. The Agriculture Program Manager shall provide the Executive Director a copy of all grants applied for and will work with the Executive Director on record keeping and reapplying for grants received.

 

Community Outreach/Social Media

It will be the Agriculture Program Managers responsibility to keep up with the Old School Farms Agriculture social media and community outreach programs. This includes participating in local farmers markets and continually talking to people in the community about the program and its offerings. The Agriculture Program Manager will ensure no less than 4 posts per week are placed on Facebook and Instagram while striving to increase the number of followers.
