Company description Saraghina Bakery brings back the ancient tradition of naturally leavened breads, handmade pasta, and traditional Italian pastries. We sell our products retail for the BedStuy neighborhood and have a burgeoning wholesale business that is currently being scaled up. We keep it simple with traditional Italian breads (filone, micca, foccaccia, ciabatta...) as well as brioche buns, croissants, and breads made from ancient grains, whole and sprouted grains and seeds. We also produce bread for our sister restaurant, attached to our bakery, Saraghina. Job description

We are currently seeking a pasta maker and prep cook. This can be a part-time of full time position. Hours are approximately 8am to 2pm. All candidates must share our enthusiasm for artisanal food and have a desire to learn more. A successful candidate will also work well as part of a team and approach tasks with diligence and an attention to detail in order to meet our high standards. Candidates must have a basic understanding of cooking and must be comfortable working in a bakery environment. At least one year of kitchen experience required. Knowledge of artisanal fresh pasta production is a big plus but not required.

A successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Daily fresh pasta production including mixing dough, shaping pasta and making filling for ravioli
  • Making sandwiches, sauces, spreads and jams 
  • Lending assistance to other bakery teams.
  • Completing shift work, as assigned, in a timely and thorough manner in accordance with bakery standards.
  • Maintaining sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies within working area.
  • Following principles of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment, ensuring corporate and OSHA safety standards are followed.


A successful candidate must be:

  • At least 18 years old.
  • Able to lift and carry 50lb.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to work on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Flexible with working hours.


Required Experience:

At least 1 year in a bakery or kitchen environment
