Company description SCHARKO FARMS is a small farm in Fairburn , Georgia just  southwest of Atlanta (we're even near the MARTA bus line). We have been active in metro Atlanta markets for over 15 years and active Georgia  Organics and Slow Food.  We love working with vegetables, fruit, herbs and cut flowers and other folks who also  enjoy them.  We are looking for someone to work with us  on our  farm in the 2019 season.  

Scharko Farms while not certified, use organic practices in our growing.We  compost, use crop rotations, organic fertilizers ad other amendments   We are firm believers in the value of small business, sourcing local, and encouraging those who want to be a part of our wonderful local food scene, from farmers, to chefs, and eaters   We sell to local restaurants in the Atlanta area, do several farmers markets, and have a small CSA.  Job description Scharko Farms is looking for someone to work with us during the 2019 farm season starting first of March (start time flexible)   We are looking for a motivated, conscientious person,, with a strong interest in sustainable farming. Previous farm work is desired but not necessary . A good work ethic, and love of farming and local food is important.

Tasks include planting, weeding, staking, seasonal  tasks such as irrigation, and covering crops when temps drop, harvesting, washing, packing out, and  working one or more farmers markets. We work hard to maintain a 8-5  workday Monday through Friday, but varies with the season, and includes any weekend markets.
 
Housing is on farm, with a private bedroom, shared bathroom, and kitchen..
Free veggies for personal use available. A monthly stipend of $400 is paid with opportunity for advancement.
