What we offer:
- An opportunity to practice all aspects of organic farming on a joyful, small-scale, highly diversified vegetable farm. This position involves seeding, transplanting, cultivating, harvesting, washing, packing and working the farm stand. You will do it all!
- We also provide an hour long, unpaid lunch break.
Desired Skills:
Experience:
Candidates must have either farm or gardening experience.
A strong work ethic and positive attitude:
Farming is joyful and rewarding but can be physically challenging. We work in all kinds of weather. During our peak months, days can be long so a strong core and positive attitude are necessary. Generally days start at 7am and end at 4pm with two days off per week.
Joy of Cooking:
We grow highly diversified vegetable crops so an adventurous palette and cooking skills are a plus.
Punctual:
We rely on you and need you to be at work and ready to go when your shift starts. If you need to put on work clothes, fill your water bottle, return an email or take time to settle in, we ask that you leave time for yourself to do that before you punch in.
Desire to learn:
We openly discuss and want you to learn all of our cultivation practices. This will give you an opportunity to talk about photosynthesis, microbes, biomes, cation exchange capacity, scales of eH, pH, biodynamics, paramagnetism and a whole host of other topics too numerous to list here.
Cell Phone:
You will be able to use your phone during your breaks but we ask that you put it aside while you are working.
Staying Power:
We are looking for someone to help us grow the business. There is an opportunity for a year round position for the right person. It's an exciting time for us and if you are willing to learn and work hard a seasonal position could become year round.
Transportation and Shelter:
Candidate must provide both and have a valid driver's license.
