Two Farmers Farm is a certified Organic four-season vegetable farm located on a historic farmstead in Scarborough, Maine. We’re a team of hardworking farmers using high-production systems, mechanization, and season-extension to grow a diversity of crops for local farmers’ markets, grocers, and restaurants. Job descriptionDuties and Responsibilities - Job Description
Crew Members work alongside the Managers and Assistant Managers to complete much of the day-to-day work of growing and harvesting our organic produce. General duties may include:
- Harvesting, washing and packing produce
- Transplanting
- Greenhouse seeding & propagation
- Trellising
- Cultivation and hand weeding
- Mulch laying and removal
- Field preparation and cleanup
- Record-keeping
- Farm maintenance
- Mowing and line trimming
- Row cover management
- Disease and pest scouting
- Staffing farmers’ markets
- Crate washing
- Other duties as directed
Starts: flexible start date: April 1- May 20
Ends: late November*

*2019 Full Time Seasonal Crew Members will have the opportunity to apply for a Year-Round Crew position to begin in December 2019.
Hours: 40-45 hours/week: Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday
Required Qualifications:
Farming experience is not required. Applicants with no farming experience will be trained on the job. Even applicants with farming experience must be prepared to break old habits and develop new skills to conform with the specific expectations at Two Farmers Farm.
- Start in April and commit to working through November.
- One season’s work experience in an outdoor field (farming, landscaping, trail work, outdoor contracting, outdoor education etc)
- Excellent references
- Proactive communication style
- Attention to detail
- Positive attitude, agreeable disposition
- Eagerness to learn and willingness to receive corrections constructively
- Valid US driver’s license, clean driving record
- Ability to do the following:
- Accommodate the seasonal schedule, including regular Saturday shifts
- Work well in groups and independently
- Think ahead
- Lift, and walk a short distance with, 50lbs
- Work outdoors all day in all weather condition
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in being a long-term part of our team, in either a seasonal or year-round capacity
- Some farming experience
Compensation:
- Starting pay is $12.50/hour. Dedicated crew members are eligible for wage increases based on performance, responsibilities and commitment.
- Daily 30 minute paid lunch break effectively increases the starting wage to $13.28/hour for actual on-the-job hours.
