Job Title: Contract Driver - Distribution Team Member

We are looking to hire an organized and detail-oriented food lover to join our small team that packs orders each week and perform the ongoing maintenance and preparation tasks that keep the operations running smoothly.

Position Overview: This position will be primarily responsible for delivering orders correctly and efficiently while maintaining product quality. Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask while performing time-sensitive tasks efficiently is a must to thrive in this position. Knowledge of the city neighborhood and surrounding suburbs is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities:

The Contract Delivery Driver is expected to represent Philly Foodworks and their brand during their deliveries or pickups. This means having exceptional customer service skills and great communication. You will be coming in contact with our customers on a regular basis and you should always be courteous, pleasant and as helpful as possible. You’ll also be expected to arrive at the warehouse and complete your routes in a timely fashion with minimal errors.

- Deliver customer orders according to assigned routes one - three days a week

- Handle orders with care

- Courteous, respectful, and helpful to customers
 

Qualifications & Requirements:

- Valid drivers license, vehicle registration & insurance

- Reliable Vehicle (preferably a large vehicle because routes can have up to 60 boxes)

- Fast learner and adaptable

- Attention to detail, process-oriented and disciplined

- Punctual time management skills

- Cell phone (Google Maps, text messaging, and email are all used for this position)

- Bank Account for direct deposit

- Strong back able to lift up to 40 lbs on a regular basis

- Strong communication skills

- Ability to execute given tasks efficiently

- Ability to take direction, ask for help/clarity when necessary, and accept constructive feedback on performance and technique

- Adaptable to changing processes to find the most efficient way
 

Schedule & Compensation:

Philly Foodworks hires drivers on an independent contract base. Each driver is expected to fill out a 1099 form. This means taxes are not withheld from a driver’s pay. Philly Foodworks submits documents reporting your earnings to the IRS. The driver will be responsible for paying taxes on the amount they’ve earned. Since this is an independent contract position you can use items from the below list as deductions.

This position can be anywhere from 1 - 4 days and up to 9 hours a day based on the driver’s availability and the route needs.
 

Hours of work are Tuesday - Thursday (occasional Friday)

Tuesday: 9:30 am on (dependant upon assigned routes, one route can be 2-3 hours, two routes can be up to 8 hours)

Wednesday: 10:00 am on (dependant upon assigned routes, one route can be 2-3 hours, two routes can be up to 8 hours)

Thursday: 10:00 am on (dependant upon assigned routes, one route can be 2-3 hours, two routes can be up to 8 hours)

Friday: Dependant on company needs but some vendor pickups are scheduled

The start time is dependant on the route but the earliest arrival time for each day is what is noted above. Depending on driver availability and vehicle determines how many routes can/will be assigned to the driver. Schedules can be flexible based on driver and Philly Foodworks’ needs.

Compensation ranges on the volume and mileage of each route by day. Gas & mileage reimbursement is figured into the rate of each route. The lightest and smallest route can start at $75.00 and range as high as $125. The larger and more demanding the route the higher the rate for the route. Once a driver is trained they can assume a repeating weekly schedule unless there are holidays or weather circumstances causing a change in the delivery days. Scheduling availability bonuses, as well as paid time off, are available once a driver reaches 90 days with Philly Foodworks.
