All internships are flexible 6-8 weeks in Harlem, New York. Students must be able to receive school credit for their internship and are expected to be on-site 2-3 days per week. The intended (and tentative) start date is June 3rd. Perks include a travel stipend, office snacks, 1-2 summer outings, and lots of delicious food and event opportunities! 

All candidates must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or masters program and can receive credit for your internship. We accept students from all program as long as you can explain why this internship will help you achieve your goals


VIDEO INTERNSHIP

The MSG Video Internship is for the next generation of video producers obsessed with food and the engaging content that surrounds it. The first two weeks of the internship will have you learning the ins and outs of Marcus Samuelsson’s brand and you will brainstorm ideas for a weekly videos series which you will pitch to the media team and then bring the concept to execution by writing, producing, shooting, editing, and distributing the series after the pitch has been accepted.

This is the perfect internship for someone interested in pursuing a career in food media, entertainment, or creative services, who is fascinated by the stories that can be told by chefs and understands that they have an increasingly important voice in the urban and political landscape, all fueled by media.

You Will

  • Conceive, write, shoot, edit and produce a video series for one of Marcus Samuelsson’s social media channels
  • Work with the MSG media and marketing teams on select projects as needed and desired including website management and social media
  • This is an unpaid internship. Perks include ample free food, access to industry events, and a transportation stipend.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience creating compelling, shareable video content
  • Proficiency with DSLR cameras, sound/lighting equipment, and editing suites a plus
  • Adobe Creative Suite and on set experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to receive constructive criticism
  • A positive, curious and kind disposition

EXPERIENTIAL MARKETING INTERNSHIP

The MSG Events Internship is for the next generation of experiential events producers or marketers obsessed with food and the engaging content that surrounds it. The first two weeks of the internship will have you learning the ins and outs of Marcus Samuelsson’s brand and you will brainstorm ideas for a community event at our flagship location Red Rooster which you will pitch to the media team and then bring the concept to execution by working with the various teams at MSG and Red Rooster to bring the event to the finish line including culinary, operations, events, and social media.

This is the perfect internship for someone interested in pursuing a career in food media, event management, or experiential marketing who is fascinated by the stories that can be told by chefs and understands that they have an increasingly important voice in the urban and political landscape.

You Will

  • Conceive and plan all elements of a community based event at Red Rooster Harlem, Chef Marcus Samuelsson’s flagship restaurant. Your responsibilities will include working with the various teams at MSG to create a budget, coordinate with the chefs and front of house teams at Red Rooster, create and distribute marketing materials, obtain entertainment, and being on-site for the event.
  • Work with the MSG media and marketing teams on select projects as needed and desired including website management and social media
  • This is an unpaid internship. Perks include ample free food, access to industry events, and a transportation stipend.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience creating large scale events from cradle to grave
  • Proficiency with events management software such as Gather a plus
  • Knowledge and passion of food and restaurants desired
  • Social media experience a plus
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to receive constructive criticism
  • A positive, curious and kind disposition

EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCE INTERNSHIP

The MSG Employee Experience Internship is for the next generation of human resources specialists dedicated to making work spaces diverse and inclusive and in and of the communities that they inhabit. The internship will have you learning the ins and outs of Marcus Samuelsson’s brand and you will brainstorm ideas for an on-boarding program that will be used for all new members of MSG or our affiliate restaurants in order to teach them about what it means to be a part of this thriving community.

You Will
  • Using Harlem as your muse, you will create a complete interactive cultural tour of what it means to be a part of our company that will be an integral part of our on-boarding process new hires.
  • Work with the MSG media and marketing teams on select projects as needed and desired including website management and social media

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with people and managing teams
  • HR experience should be highlighted
  • Experience with training or getting-to-know-you programs desired
