Job Description Steve's Camp at Horizon Farms is a food, farm and sustainability-centric summer camp for urban youth in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains.  

For the summer of 2012, we are seeking a hard-working, motivated and outgoing individual for a PAID summer internship to assist with food preparation, meal planning, food education and gardening.  

This is be a full-time, live on-site position for the duration of the summer.

The ideal candidate would:

• have solid knife skills and knowledge of a variety of cooking methods
• be comfortable working with whole grains, farm-sourced, seasonal produce, and a variety of animal proteins
• have experience working with young people
• be interested in agriculture, sustainable farming, and food ethics
• be able to take direction and prepare food according to specification

Responsibilities Include:

• Washing, chopping, and prepping for 3 meals a day for about 40-50 people
• Helping to maintain compost bins
• Helping to maintain herb and vegetable gardens
• Assisting with food-sourcing, collection, and procurement
