Job description Cheese Plus is seeking a motivated individual to work alongside the Owner/General Manager and staff to purchase specialty Wine items, maintain merchandising standards and drive sales goals.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a retail troubleshooter with a versatile skill set to move up to new levels of responsibility.

The Wine Specialist will be the visible leader of Wine operations. This position will be scheduled to work directly on the sales floor, performing the same duties of customer service and store maintenance expected of all employees of Cheese Plus.

The Wine Specialist will be the primary person on the sales floor serving the needs of our customers, placing orders, receiving deliveries, stocking the deliveries, and maintaining the floor displays and back stock.

The Wine Specialist will be required to maintain clean up-to-date order boards and keep all costs and retail information in the POS system current to maintain positive gross margin targets.

The specialist will be required to keep the Wine sales floor and back stock clean and organized. Additionally, the Wine Specialist will be required to perform periodic physical inventory counts.

Responsibilities for this key position include: 
*Perform as the lead customer service rep for Wine, stationed primarily on the sales floor actively selling and discussing the products to the customers
*Work all stations of the store including cashiering and food service, and perform all duties, as needed 
*Receive Wine deliveries, stock these deliveries and maintain a clean organized back stock
*Stock and rotate products to reduce and eliminate spoilage
*Maintain customer special request log book
*Practice category management techniques to reduce and eliminate poor selling or redundant products
*Maintain clean and organized orderboards
*Create new products in the POS system with complete information fields including but not limited to vendor, product, cost, retail
*Maintain POS system files including deleting discontinued items
*Maintain positive gross margin performance 
*Maintain positive sales goals
*Seek out new products and make recommendations to the owner
*Forecast and recommend holiday promotions 
*Coordinate store merchandising and decor 
*Perform and/or oversee periodic storewide inventory counts


Qualifications: If you have the following experience and capabilities, apply now to provide leadership to a winning team:
*Passion for food and wine
*Computer skills including Excel and Word. Knowledge of POS and scale file maintenance a plus
*Good organizational skills with paper, products, and space
*Time management, multi-tasking, and follow-through skills
*Excellent English communications skills, including proper phone, email and direct communication language and etiquette
*Desire to serve/work with others to create and enhance a positive and efficient goal directed workplace
*A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail 
*Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to use common-sense good judgment, while collaborating positively in a hands-on small team environment
*Good basic math skills (add and subtract accurately without paper or calculator)
*Must be willing and available to work flexible work schedules, to meet the changing requirements during store hours. 

*Must have the ability to perform all physical and mental requirements of the position, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, including, but not limited to: lifting 40+ lbs. of product on a regular basis; working in and out of walk-in refrigerators; working safely with cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment; climbing stairs and walking/standing throughout the majority of the workday; occasionally stooping or kneeling; typing on a computer keyboard; reaching with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to apply common sense, with the understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form is required. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to interact well with others; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; make sound decisions; provide partnership to employees from diverse backgrounds in a dynamic and sometimes stressful work environment, while maintaining positive working relationships in a small team environment. 
*Must consistently have regular, dependable attendance; and be able to satisfactorily pass a background check.

This is a full-time position, with eligibility for overtime pay. The hours will include some night shifts, typically no later than 9:30 PM, and may include mornings and midday shifts. Weekend shifts required for maximum exposure to customers and staff.
