JOB DESCRIPTION

Summer Farm Camp Manager – Seasonal Full Time

Position Summary:
The Summer Farm Camp Manager plans, creates, operates, and delivers fun and memorable day camp experiences for Carnation Farms for grouped grades between 2nd to 8th grades. The Manager’s role requires partnership and division of responsibilities, cross-functioning with other Farm departments engaged in the planning and delivery of camp experiences using the curriculum provided. S/he will also have a direct supervisory role over the Summer Farm Camps team. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that staff, systems, leadership style, structure, and goals are aligned with the organization’s strategic plan. S/he must be a positive, energetic, forward thinking, creative individual with high ethical standards and who takes responsibility and pride of ownership very seriously.

This seasonal position (Monday through Friday) begins on June 17th, 2019 and concludes on August 30th, 2019.


Reports to: Executive Director


RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Responsible for the operations and execution of the Carnation Farms Summer Farm Camps

  • Education Department Relationship
    • Learn, internalize, and demonstrate a passion for Education department curriculum, content, and expectations for each themed camp
    • Collaborate with Education team to train to the Summer Farm Camps team in Camp content and expectations
  • Relationships Across Other Farm Departments
    • Ag Ed Team & Culinary/Hospitality Team: Partner to plan, coordinate, and deliver Summer Farm Camp curriculum
    • Marketing Manager: Suggest content and “camp” stories for future marketing messages
  • Coordinate Camper Transportation and Pre/After Care Programs
    • To/from camps
    • Between camp on-site locations
    • Pre and after care for campers
  • Camp Staff Supervisor
    • Train and develop the team to ensure Carnation Farms’ camp standards are consistently upheld
  • Lead/Deliver an Outstanding Camper Experience
    • Safe: Ensure a safe camp experience for all
    • Fun: Deliver the camp curriculum with passion, patience, and a sense of humor
    • Educational: Deliver the key lessons that ensure that Farm Camp is an educational foundation for a lifetime of good eating habits and an understanding of a sustainable food system
  • Organization
    • Demonstrate, train, and ensure that Carnation Farms Camp safety protocol and procedures are always applied

QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience and Education:
• 2 years’ leadership experience in educational program delivery for the public, preferred camp or school background
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree (Preferably in education or related agricultural/environmental field)

Key Competencies:
• Outstanding leadership and organizational skills
• Have a passion for kids and kid program delivery
• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving ability
• Lead and evaluate other education/program staff
• Fluent computer skills – emails, word processing, spreadsheets, presentations

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
• Valid driver’s license
• Background check
• Washington Food Handler’s Permit (Can obtain this on start date)

Compensation this position is : hourly, $15/hr + Application instructions
