Company description
We are a grass fed dairy farm, making our own yogurt, kefir, and greek yogurt we also make butter offsite. Grass fed cows make healthier milk with more omega-3 and CLA fats. We are making the most sustainable healthful dairy products that can be made. Small batches, minimally processed, minimal ingredients. We seek kitchen staff to help make our products, and to help develop new flavors and products. A well organized, self motivated person will do well here.
Job description
This position requires a commitment to quality, an ability to work independently and a willingness to be adaptable to the changes in a growing small business environment.
Daily tasks will involve pasteurizing milk, producing small batches of yogurt, kefir and Greek yogurt. There is daily testing of the milk in our laboratory. You will be planning the production schedule to match the sales for the week. There will also be development of new flavors of yogurt and kefir, which is always fun as it involves experimenting with cultures and ingredients. There is a lot of cleaning up, but that is just how it is in food. We have a milk jug filling part of the business, so you may be asked to lend a hand with the people doing that.
There are moments of down time, like when you are waiting for milk to get up to pasteurization temperature. Planning your own day around these moments will make the job be more enjoyable.
You will have an assistant in the weekday mornings to help you get things going.
This small dairy brand is growing, the person in this position will be in a good place to grow along with the business. This can be a very rewarding position for the right person.
It will be very helpful if you have reliable transportation. There is no public transportation here. Experience with fermented dairy foods or in production kitchens would be a plus.
