About the Market

Morningside Farmers Market is the first and only farmers market in Atlanta that requires all produce to be certified organic. Unwavering in our commitment to customers since 1995, our local farmers produce certified organic, non-GMO vegetables, fruits, and mushrooms; organic, GMO-free feed meats; organic bread; beautiful organic flowers; organic skincare products; and much more. The produce is grown by farmers and their staff who are at the market. It's a very small, intimate farmers market where you can get to know the producers. Located in the historic Morningside community, the market is open every Saturday year-round from 8:00am to 11:30am.

Overview

The Marketing & Social Media Coordinator is instrumental to the market’s social presences and brand image. They are responsible for the website, weekly customer email, social media accounts, marketing materials, branding placement, and community outreach projects. This contractor will work closely with the MFM Board President or appointee as well as the Market Manager. This person must possess a complex blend of skills encompassing technical, interpersonal, and organizational. The coordinator will work with the market and vendors to capture the essence of MFM. As a contract position, the Marketing & Social Media Coordinator must provide their own computer, software, other equipment, transportation, etc. The Market will not provide these items nor a workspace, medical or other benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Manage MFM Website – general updates and the “What’s Available This Week” page

  • Email vendors each Monday to request what products they are bringing, anything new or featured

Email Marketing - Compose and send the MFM Weekly Customer Email (Thursdays)

Manage Social Media Accounts – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter. Create original content, including photos, as well as sharing existing content from our market vendors. At least 1 in-person market visit per month, and this position can request additional photos from the market manager and board members. Extra posts for pop-up chef/demo of the week Evenly rotate through all vendors. Spread out evenly throughout the week. At least one social media post should be done on Saturday before 9:30 AM to attract people to the market. Respond to all DMs and direct inquiries and requests to Market Manager.

Marketing Materials - Create marketing materials. Submit drafts to board for approvals. Manage and order approved materials.

Community Events - Research community events that may benefit the market. Submit proposal to attend community events to board. Attend community events approved by board.

Monthly Reports - Marketing overview report submitted to the board by the 5th of the following month to report on the prior month’s activities and future plans. Social media reports.


Requirements

  • Relevant experience in marketing and social media
  • High school diploma or equivalent
