Our goal is to provide high-quality, organic produce through a) on-site and local (less than 2 miles away) farm stands, b) a 30-50 member established CSA and 3) a small number of local restaurants. The business and customer base has become established and grown substantially since our 2016 first full growing season and is now well established in the community. Excess produce (from market or non-market produce) is donated to the Childhood Development Academy (CDA) to provide the children, teachers and families with healthy organic diet options. This donation goes a long way towards helping the farm meet it’s charity goals each year. Job description
We are seeking a farmer or farm manager to continue to grow and build the business while working alongside an individual who has historically been the farms operations manager (responsibly for supporting CSA administration, websites, marketing and volunteer coordination). In 2019 our Operations Manager began growing organic flowers on the property and has done so quite successfully. The new farmer/farm manager would work alongside this individual. Going forward, division of operations functions between the vegetable farm and flower farmer can be determined based upon skill and interest.
Current farming practices include high-rotation growing, minimal tillage, cover-cropping, growing in landscape fabric, and solarization with tarps.
