Vegetable Farm Staff Common Thread CSA

Company description We seek farmers to join our team and farmers in training to come learn with us!  Common Thread CSA is a 20-acre vegetable farm in Central New York that grows mixed vegetables for a free choice onsite CSA, a customizable delivered CSA, farmers markets and some wholesale.  We are a family farm run by two farmers with over 20 years of experience each who enjoy sharing what we know and learning from you.  Our scale allows motivated employees to learn and practice a wide variety of skills. We prioritize soil health, using a permanent raised bed tillage system and planting about half the farm to cover crops.  We sign the NOFA NY Farmers Pledge.  We work to make our food accessible to all by running a sponsored share program and donating food. Farm Staff Members work with our team on all aspects of vegetable production (greenhouse, harvest, transplanting, markets, etc.) and take leadership in one or more area such as tractor work, crew leadership or vegetable distribution.  

Staff members must have good communication skills and a positive outlook, 2+ years’ experience on a vegetable operation and be ready to make a 2-year commitment to the farm.  Staff positions are full time March - November with optional part time employment December-February.  We have a one-bedroom apartment available for rent on the farm and can also provide assistance in finding housing nearby. 

Applicants with less experience or who are unable to make a multi-year commitment may be interested in applying for a farm apprenticeship, summer internship or field work position. 

Compensation this position is : hourly, varies DOE, $12.30 - $13.30 Application instructions
