Job description

Marketing and Sales Manager (Full Time) – Blue Ridge Bucha

Certified Organic, family-owned kombucha company seeks a Marketing and Sales Manager to oversee and execute all aspects of the company’s marketing and sales activities. This position offers an opportunity to make a tangible impact in a small business environment, demonstrating creative use of modest resources to design and implement a measurably impactful program in line with our company ethos and budget. Although you will oversee the work of other team members, this position requires a willingness roll up your sleeves and execute at all levels. This is a new position within our company, and is a unique opportunity to join a growing local food business and learn its workings from the ground up.

The right candidate for this position is a conscientious, energetic, and upbeat person who engages with life and enjoys being positively challenged on the job. He or she will have the background, skills, and temperament to hit the ground running after understanding our goals and acclimating to our company culture.


The Marketing and Sales Manager will:

  • Work closely with the company’s owners and other partners to establish quarterly sales and marketing goals; develop and execute a marketing and sales program to meet those goals; produce regular reports to evaluate results; hone strategy accordingly to orient the company towards continued success
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key retail accounts, including promotional strategies, in-person visits, timely correspondence, and impeccable record-keeping; this includes travel by car throughout the Mid-Atlantic region (position requires approximately 20% travel)
  • Manage the work of and coordinate schedules for multiple part-time team members that conduct tastings at retail accounts, produce social media content, and attend events throughout the region; read team member event reports and follow up on content; ensure that all team members are aware of relevant sales and marketing goals and are appreciated for their important role; personally attend events and tastings as needed to meet strategic goals or ensure adequate coverage
  • Work collaboratively with distributor representatives by submitting promotional calendars, keeping them informed on relevant information, acknowledging their efforts, and seeking to maximize sales opportunities
  • Manage all aspects of brand identity, including: social media presence; responding to customer correspondence via email; overseeing traditional advertising channels such as print and radio; maintaining up-to-date company website; writing press releases and media relations; and publishing company blog and newsletters
  • Design and produce marketing, sales, and promotional materials such as signage, coupons, merchandise, and other items that complement marketing and sales strategy
  • Pursue and develop strategic partnerships with other mission-driven organizations
  • Be able to lift and move heavy objects, such as 60 lb kegs and bulky event equipment
  • Possess a willingness to flex up to 50 hrs per week during busy periods
  • Undertake other sales and marketing functions as requested

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2+ years full time work experience in sales, marketing, or a related field
  • Experience in strategic thinking, project management, and meaningful analysis of results
  • Mastery of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram) and experience in social media strategy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point) and Google Drive applications
  • Experience in writing marketing materials such as newsletters, advertising copy, and press releases
  • A reliable vehicle and a clean driving record

Blue Ridge Bucha is a fun and professional company that values each team member and encourages personal growth and a healthy lifestyle. Compensation starts at $40,000-$45,000 annually, depending on experience. Includes health benefits, PTO, retirement benefit, and a positive and respectful work environment. Start date of Mid-February (negotiable for the right candidate).
