Company description The California Artisan Cheese Guild is a statewide nonprofit organization of cheesemaker, cheese trade, and enthusiast members who work together to support California cheese.  Guild members work to keep a traditional craft alive, to preserve flavors unique to our region and to protect valuable working farmland in a densely populated state.  The mission of the California Artisan Cheese Guild is to celebrate the quality and diversity of artisan cheeses produced in California, through partnerships, outreach, and education. The California Artisan Cheese Guild (“CACG”) is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting artisan cheese production in California. We seek a cheese-loving individual with great communication skills and professional social media management experience to assist with the internal and external marketing and promotion of our Guild members and activities. This is a part time, mostly remote, position budgeted at ~8 hours per week or ~30-32 hours per month with monthly in-person meetings with the CACG Executive Director. Applicants must reside in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. In-person attendance is required twice a year, at the California Artisan Cheese Festival (March 27-29, 2020) in Santa Rosa, CA, and at SF Cheese Fest (September 2020) in San Francisco, CA. Additional hours may be requested, with advance notice, in the two to three weeks leading up to, and including, the festival weekends.
 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage social media accounts for the CACG, SF Cheese Fest, and the California Artisan Cheese Festival. Create and share engaging social media content for the accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Create and execute a social media strategy to help promote events and ticket sales for SF Cheese Fest and the California Artisan Cheese Festival using a data-driven approach.
  • Establish metrics and deliverables for social media channels.
  • Collaborate with CACG Executive Director on an online advertising strategy for SF Cheese Fest and the California Artisan Cheese Festival.
  • Generate and post social media content on-site at the California Artisan Cheese Festival and SF Cheese Fest.
  • Craft newsletter e-blasts to promote CACG events throughout the year
  • Update content for the CACG, SF Cheese Fest, and California Artisan Cheese Festival websites as needed.
  • Contribute content to the Guild’s weekly member e-mail.
  • Assist with drafting and distributing a wide range of communications to CACG members about various opportunities and events.
  • Weekly check-in with CACG Executive Director

 

Skills/Qualifications:

  • You have relevant experience in marketing and social media.
  • You have a track record of messaging on various social media platforms and know how to use them in different, strategic ways.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • You are a creative writer and storyteller.
  • You are self-motivated and disciplined with good time management skills.
  • You are detail-oriented and organized.
  • You are flexible.
  • You are proficient with:
    • Major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter)
    • Squarespace
    • Wordpress
    • Mail Chimp
    • Vertical Response
  • You must have a cell phone.
  • You must have access to your own computer and internet.
  • You must speak and write fluent English.
  • You should have a passion for cheese, local food, and family farms
  • You should have a desire to work for a mission-driven nonprofit organization supporting local cheesemakers
  • If you have design skills, that’s a great bonus!

Compensation this position is : hourly, $15/hr + Application instructions
