Urban Agriculture Coordinator Food Moxie

Temporary 16-20 Weeks and average 40 hours per week.

Essential Responsibilities:

Education Management & Support

  • Design and lead implementation of trauma-sensitive, community-informed curricula for FM summer youth program that inspires youth to grow, taste and cook healthy produce
  • Take the lead to ensure that education spaces are safe, clean, and organized for youth program implementation and lead communication of program roles with support staff and volunteers.
  • Manage all aspects of weekly youth market, including harvest, sales and seasonal cooking demonstrations.
  • Ensure programs are delivered with the highest level of quality; are aligned with the organization’s mission and goals; produce strong quantitative and qualitative results; and meet or exceed grant outcomes
  • Create and maintain a safe and comfortable learning environment for above education events
  • Shop for and lead the preparation of perishable ingredients in support of program food tastings and cooking experiences focused on seasonal, healthy produce
  • Coordinate and lead the installation of new production gardens with youth and partners as assigned
  • Coordinate and lead weekly urban agriculture workshop opportunities for adults and youth as assigned
  • Promote resources for continued education and access by program participants and graduates to urban gardening, culinary literacy and community food security wellness activities
  • Plan and implement annual Food Moxie Gather for Good youth conference

 

Youth and Volunteer Management

  • Provide leadership to youth including supervision, development and resource sharing as relate to assigned program planning and implementation activities
  • Coordinate schedules, orient and oversee youth and volunteers for assigned learning programs
  • Provide materials, supplies, and tasks to youth and volunteers for assigned learning programs


Project Management

  • Support annual budget forecasting in preparation for next fiscal year
  • Ensure that all assigned programs are delivered on time, within scope and within budget
  • Coordinate internal and external resources and materials to execute projects and lessons
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, recruit, interview and select well-qualified youth for above programs

 

Partnership Building

  • Keep staff and community members at partner sites informed about programs and events associated with the above programs on an at least weekly basis
  • Collaborate with liaisons at partner sites to increase program participation
  • Work with stakeholders at program sites to develop strategies to increase visitation and engagement with growing and other learning spaces including actively publicizing and recruiting for education workshops, Gather for Good and farm markets
  • Cultivate existing partner relationships as well as new ones that expand Food Moxie impact

 

Record Keeping, Documentation, Meetings

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in BOX (attendance, evaluation forms, curriculum)
  • Submit weekly/monthly/quarterly reports as requested
  • Participate in staff meetings and retreats as requested

 

Communications

  • Provide daily photos to document from programs to document program impact, for FM communications through website, social media, and other FM promotional materials
  • Publicly represent FOOD MOXIE with positive attitudes and communications about the organization and with the responsibility to resolve any issues that arise that would prevent this through private and advance internal communication to ED or board
  • As requested, provide presentations about Food Moxie mission and vision to the public

Other

  • Support for special projects as assigned including annual events and large workdays

 

 

 

Qualifications/Skills/Attributes:

  • Demonstrated success supervising youth agricultural programs, including farm marketing and organic crop production experiences
  • Demonstrated success managing projects/programs, and working collaboratively with partners to implement programs and maintain records (attendance, evaluation, learning notes)
  • Demonstrated success creating, supervising and implementing educational activities associated with promoting organic food gardening and farming, horticulture, & cooking with seasonal produce
  • Demonstrated success supporting the implementation of events and workshops by guest presenters
  • Ability to manage time efficiently - with great attention to details/deadlines - while working on several projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable with public speaking and able to represent Food Moxie at public events
  • Experience establishing and maintaining positive community and educational relationships
  • Must be able to maintain attendance and evaluation records and regularly report results
  • Exceptional written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. High level of attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong computing skills, including complete command of MS Office Suite
  • Proven management experience and strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively, solve problems, and make decisions in accordance with established policies. Ability to communicate problems to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Energetic, positive, flexible, able to work independently and with a team in small, busy office
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times; has a high moral character
  • Demonstrated understanding of FOOD MOXIE’s values and strong desire to advance the mission
  • Light carpentry skills a plus
Must have valid driver’s license, clean driving record and your own personal vehicle.  Must be able to drive small vans and UHaul trucks as required for field trips, market days and other as needed Compensation this position is : hourly, $15/hr + Application instructions
