Position Summary

The Development and Community Engagement Coordinator will play a key role in advancing  GGN’s development and community engagement strategy. They will report to the Deputy Director and support a wide range of efforts to showcase GGN’s work and impact in order to build and deepen our relationship with volunteers, partners, allies, and funders. This position includes a mix of administrative work and external-facing, relationship-building work.

Expected Outcomes and Responsibilities

Development

  • Track contributions and prepare gift acknowledgements to support execution of stewardship plan
  • Research prospective donors and partners identified by board members, staff, and volunteers
  • Support the planning and execution of grant proposals, including researching opportunities, maintaining grant calendars, and contributing to grant writing and the submission process
  • Use Salesforce to track stakeholder and donor participation, identification, cultivation, stewardship, and volunteer activities
  • Prepare regular reports for Deputy Director, Executive Director, and the Board Development Committee that will guide donor engagement efforts 

 

Community Engagement

  • Support planning, execution, and assessment of outreach events, in coordination with other GGN staff and external contractors
  • Coordinate recruitment, orientation, and logistics of volunteer programs in coordination with GGN staff, including individual volunteers, civic groups, and corporate teams
  • Contribute to content development for email, newsletter, website, social media, sponsorship, and other media to meet the goals of the annual communication strategies and editorial calendar
  • Generate regular community engagement reports to determine effectiveness of communications strategies
  • Support back-end website maintenance using Squarespace
  • Field and respond to general organizational inquiries or forward to appropriate staff and ensure appropriate follow up
  • Organize and maintain target audience lists for communication campaigns using Salesforce, Mailchimp, and other tools
  • Support development of marketing collateral and brand materials

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements- Work, volunteer, academic, and other life experiences are all relevant 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in implementing development and community engagement campaigns, including fundraising, account management, and donor relations 
  • Experience with current media platforms and proven ability to learn new digital tools rapidly (experience working with Salesforce, Mailchimp, Squarespace, and major social media platforms preferred)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills for relationship building and teamwork
  • Self-directed working approach and initiative
  • Understanding of the context of refugee resettlement and food systems in the Southeast US
  • Access to consistent transportation to be able to travel between GGN sites and to offsite meetings

 

Schedule Requirements: 

Standard working hours, Monday through Friday with some pre-scheduled evening and weekend work expected 

 

Location: Our office is located in Decatur, GA in a nonprofit co-working space operated by the City of Decatur at Legacy Park, a beautiful 77-acre greenspace that is also home to our Decatur’s Kitchen Garden and Orchard. Our current farm and garden sites are located in Decatur, Clarkston, and Stone Mountain. 

 

Compensation:  The salary range for this position is $38,000-$42,0000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include: Healthcare Reimbursement Account (currently $350/month), cell phone stipend (currently $25/month), 401k retirement account (with up to 3% match), paid time off (starts at 2 weeks then accrues) and paid holidays (6 public holidays; 2 floating holidays; 1 week bonus time at year-end), professional development opportunities (currently $1,000/year), and free/discounted produce (based on availability).
