Overview
The Boston Public Market Association, Inc. is a small nonprofit 50l(c)(3) that operates the Boston Public Market, a permanent year-round, indoor market in downtown Boston which offers an enriching experience to our 2.5 million visitors each year. As part of a seven person small but dynamic team and reporting to the CEO, the Marketing Director plays the lead role in planning, managing and implementing all aspects of our marketing activities.


Position:

The Marketing Director is responsible for managing the internal and external branding, marketing and communications strategy in an effort to reach our target audiences with key messaging and preserve our brand. Marketing tactics should ultimately impact general BPM foot traffic and sales while maintaining a positive public perception of our Market, our mission goals and community engagement successes and our overall enterprise activities.



Responsibilities include:

• Develop overall marketing strategy and core messaging; create specific plans from the strategy and project manage the execution of all steps. Create and manage content and work with team to consistently evaluate our brand and how to message it

• Oversee external public relations agency and assist with press release development, media outreach, interviews and photoshoots

• Develop advertising strategy as needed; oversee development of ad creative and media placement/budget

• Manage regular content updates to the BPM website, as well as larger structural changes as needed via web developer freelancer; develop templates and content for BPM newsletter and send to constituents

• Manage general aesthetic of Market interior and exterior, particularly related to signage and messaging

• Create social media strategy and content; work with BPMA team on execution

• Assist with on-and-off site events, pop-ups, workshops, etc.; particularly the Marketing efforts for Market-wide events

• Work closely with BPM vendors to collect information and promote their products and businesses and coach BPM vendors on successful marketing strategies and tactics

• Ensure we own an up to date library of photo and video content

• Manage any graphic design work and outside consultant

• Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to juggle a dynamic, full schedule of tasks

• Detail oriented and reliable

• High caliber written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in person and in writing

• Highly energetic, positive, flexible, and an excellent team player

• Ability to stay calm in stressful environments

• Interest in working in a public setting and engaging a diverse group of community stakeholders
