Production Manager Hosta Hill

Company description We are an independent fermented food business based in Western Massachusetts and committed to producing high quality, probiotic-rich Sauerkraut, Kimchi, and Hot Sauce. We are a small, growing business and our products are sold across the Northeast at markets, grocery stores, restaurants, institutions and online.  Job description This position is for a production floor manager. You will be trained in the use of our processing equipment, recipes, and methods. You will then manage the kitchen crew, directing staff as needed, and taking care of quality control, record keeping, and staff time management. You will be working closely with the owners, sales staff, and current kitchen team. 
 

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for ensuring quality of products being packaged and produced, following regulatory standards
  • Management of kitchen staff and getting kitchen setup for whatever task(s) of the day in an efficient manner
  • Run, oversee and delegate tasks for processing vegetables into fermented products, including setup and cleanup.
  • Set up, operate and monitor various kitchen equipment 
  • Managing ingredient inventory and quality assurance
  • Schedule production shifts to process vegetables for fermentation
  • Manage and follow product recipes
  • Complete required documentation for each product 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties
  • Ensure that the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced
  • Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with SOP's.
  • Complete cleaning checklist at end of shift
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area.
 

Requirements:
* Reliable and team oriented

* Good personal organization and motivation

* Experience or willingness to learn supervising others 

* Effective verbal and written communication skills.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

* Basic math skills

* Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally including overhead.

 

Work can be physically demanding and repetitive. Applicants should be hard-working, reliable, and able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently. We are following federal and state guidelines for workplace safety under COVID-19, including social distancing, mask use, and enhanced safety protocols.
