Company description Wild Mountain Seeds is a market garden and vegetable seed farm located at Sunfire Ranch in Carbondale, CO.  We are focused on producing the highest quality produce and seed using minimal tillage and permaculture techniques.  Wild Mountain Seeds is heavily focused on research and seed breeding, creating vegetable seed that is vigorous, adaptable and unique. The farm has also developed a Non-Profit organization in 2020 that is working to further research in seed and farming techniques while providing food to food banks. Learn more about the farm at wildmountainseeds.com Internship description Learn all we know about running a permaculture oriented market garden and seed company: planting, nursery work, irrigating, seed saving, seed breeding, harvest/post harvest, marketing/farmers market, setting up study trials, crop planning, polyculture design, greenhouse management, intercropping, Korean Natural Farming, compost tea making,  no till production, soil fertility management, food preservation and many other things.  Apprentices should expect to leave with a in depth understanding of vegetable and seed production at altitude with soil health as the number one priority. Apprentices work 5 days a week through the season. 

Our goal is to provide interns/apprentices with a fun, educational experience . We want everyone to leave with a love for farming and the tools necessary to pursue a career in nurturing the land. You will work as part of a team as we share ideas, perfect our existing techniques and develop new ones. You will participate in everything necessary to grow and market vegetables and specialty seeds. 

We seek intelligent, dependable, creative, fun people! No previous knowledge necessary, but some is helpful. We are looking for someone who seeks meaningful,  physical work in a Rocky Mountain environment. We will learn from each other while providing exceptionally healthy food to our customers. Our top priorities are research, seed breeding, and developing innovative systems, so expect an experience in a cutting-edge permaculture oriented market farm. An 'up to any task' attitude is a must and compassion for everyone involved in the operation is essential!

We are looking for 2 apprentices to join our team for the fall season August 15 - October 15. This is the best time of year in farming! Reaping what we've sown. There is lots to learn during the fall! We desire applicants who wish to be farmers and can guarantee commitment. Our program is a hands on opportunity to become proficient in farming and should be the top priority of the applicant for the length of the apprenticeship.
