Job Description

We are looking for a Business Development Associate to join our team ASAP. You will be working remotely and can be based in or near NYC, Westchester, or the Hudson Valley. We typically hold monthly, company-wide meetings, with mandatory attendance in the Hudson Valley, (but these have been on hold due to COVID).
 

In this newly-created role at Hudson Harvest, you will have an opportunity to lead the sales team in various growth initiatives and truly push us forward. You’ll be reporting to the Sales Manager and working closely with the Sales and Customer Experience Teams. Your top priority is to grow sales through ongoing lead generation, targeted product pushes, and sales operations projects. Additionally, you will be working with the Buying and Marketing Teams, in collaboration with the Sales Manager, to create and expand a product knowledge base, a sampling program, and various marketing initiatives.

Through these tasks, you will acquire in-depth knowledge of the farms and producers we work with to ensure that the sales team is excited to sell our products across all categories. We are very excited for this new role and the impact it will have on our customers and our company.


Responsibilities

  • Outbound Lead Generation
    • Create a lead generation process using Hubspot, that incorporates considerations including: route density, customer type, sales team availability, past account history, and COVID-related restrictions
    • Generate outbound leads and make cold calls/write cold emails to expand our book of sales; book first meetings with prospective customers
  • Targeted Product Expansions
    • Manage targeted product expansions for sales team on a rotating basis including:
      • Gathering sales data and relevant info to enable targeted pushes
      • Holding the sales team accountable for executing on expansions and assisting them, as needed
      • Creating email templates and sales collateral
      • Maintaining organized knowledge base of farm/producer information
      • Scheduling team knowledge sessions with farmers/producers
    • Develop and manage sampling program for customers in order to attract new customers and expand existing accounts; coordinate with buyers to secure samples
  • Sales Operations & Customer Technology Support
    • Improve and further customize Hubspot as a sales tool in order to increase team efficiency and usage; improve reporting tools in Hubspot for increased visibility
    • Support new priority projects as they arise, such as onboarding customers to new mobile ordering site 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience
  • 2+ years experience in sales with direct experience with outbound lead generation including: prospecting, qualifying, cold calling, etc
  • 2+ years experience in a food-related position (food-tech, restaurant, retail, distribution, etc)
  • Must be tech-savvy and very comfortable working in various tech platforms including: Slack, Hubspot, G Suite, our inventory management system, etc
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - our team is spread across the Hudson Valley and NYC - effective communication is key
  • Organized, with an ability to prioritize time-sensitive assignments
  • Detail-oriented, but doesn’t lose sight of the big picture
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and exceptional problem solver who stays calm and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-player, self-starter, and quick-learner who takes pride in producing great work
  • Is nimble and not afraid to work in a start-up culture with a small, agile team where things are constantly evolving, improving, and growing
