Champlain Valley Hops is the largest hop farm in New England. Located about 30 minutes south of Burlington, we grow and process premium hops for the region's growing number of craft breweries as well as home brewers. 98% of hops in the United States are grown in the Pacific Northwest and make their way into the overwhelming majority of local beers. Internship description We're looking for a part-time marketing and social media intern to join our growing team.  This individual should be passionate about local beer and agriculture, creative, self motivated, and have experience with social media content creation and basic marketing strategies.  Our farm is located in Starksboro, VT, about 30 minutes south of Burlington.  Intern will be required to spend some time on the farm to take pictures and keep a pulse on farm activities. Access to a smart phone would be useful.  Intern will collaborate with and report to Champlain Valley Hop’s Director of Business Development.

Responsibilities

Social media support

  • Visit the farm to take pictures for social media posts and other marketing materials
  • Create social media content and posting three times a week across Instagram, Facebook, and other recommended platforms
  • Interact with social media users through likes, comments, follows, etc.
  • Browse brewery social media feeds to keep a pulse on the local beer industry and use that information to help direct marketing activities
  • Meet weekly with the Director of Business Development to provide updates on work and to collaborate on marketing strategy

Marketing support 

  • Expand email marketing list 
  • Design and produce marketing emails targeted to commercial brewers and homebrewers 
  • Design ads for placement in industry magazines, brewery guild newsletters, and CVH marketing emails
  • Collaborate on monthly Champlain Valley Hop’s newsletter
  • Help plan and organize farm events 
  • Produce event fliers and other marketing materials
  • Collaborate on branded packaging design and implementation 


Hours 

  • 16-20 hours/week depending on individual availability and business needs
  • Opportunity for additional hours depending on individual performance and business needs
  • Opportunity for growth into a long term position 
  • Most work can be done remotely and scheduled independently as long as deadlines are met.  Periodic farm visits will be needed to gather social media content and to help plan events.
