Job description The Position

This will be the first in-house creative hire at Smallhold. Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this is an opportunity to be a part of a small, nimble team building the uniquely special Smallhold brand.

This role is 50% Strategy (shape brand evolution, align to strategic goals) and 50% Execution (concept + deliver graphic design, photo, and video creative; oversee production, freelancers + budget). This role will be a great fit for a mushroom-obsessed self-starter who doesn't shy away from special projects, tight budgets and even tighter timelines. In this role, you’ll create fun, weird, memorable content across multiple channels. We're looking for someone with an offbeat sense of humor, strong work ethic, and boundless imagination. The Challenge
  • Collaborate with Marketing to codify Smallhold's brand positioning, creative guidelines, and toolkit
  • Develop compelling, on-brand creative for internal and external communications that drives both brand awareness and sales
  • Develop concepts and corresponding treatments for brand moments across core channels (grocery, web, social, advertising, special content projects)
  • Brainstorm and execute digital-first content campaigns alongside Marketing team
  • Create compelling branded materials, advertising, and design assets (still and motion) for all channels, but with a focus on social, web, email, and CPG packaging
  • Lead all visual design and art direction until we’re in a position to further build out the team – an effort that you will help drive as we build the creative team together
  • Set clear design goals and deliverables, provide direct feedback to keep projects moving, and collaborate across teams with project managers, copywriters, marketing specialists, and business owners
  • Work collaboratively with a network of freelance creative professionals and as needed, agencies
  • While the core of this role is graphic design, you will also photo edit (retouching, masking, cropping) and video edit (splicing, visual effects, animation, transitions, color correction)
