King David Tacos is a woman-owned and Brooklyn-founded business, established in June 2016. We bring one of the best exports from Austin, TX to the daily lives of New Yorkers: breakfast tacos.

Before KDT, New York City (arguably the world’s center of food culture and influence) had been devoid of real breakfast tacos (arguably the perfect breakfast food) for too long. But beyond being Tex-Mex-obsessed, it is our belief that NYC is in need of better on-the-go breakfast. 

KDT has wholesale, retail, and catering arms of the business, working in concert. We specialize in grab'n'go breakfast tacos that are simple and delicious, are created for everyday enjoyment without guilt, and are tailored to the fast-paced lifestyle and discerning tastes of New Yorkers.

Job description

KDT opened NYC's first breakfast taco carts--in Prospect Park (Sept 2017), in the Financial District (Nov 2017), and in Madison Square Park (June 2019). We are now opening our first brick and mortar retail location in Prospect Heights, located in the same building as our HQ and Production Facility. 

The carts have garnered a loyal and growing fan base, and we bring the same stellar level of customer service to our brick and mortar. Our Retail Attendants serve as the face of the company at our headquarters and our only brand-owned retail experience--providing an engaging, memorable and smooth experience is a must!

Our critically-acclaimed breakfast tacos are served grab'n'go style--tailored to the fast-paced mornings of New Yorkers. They are made fresh each morning, wrapped individually, and held hot.

This role mainly serves as a cashier and customer service, as there is no cooking required of this role, and there is only simple food and drink assembly involved. This will include coffee (drip only) and beer/wine. Additionally, you will be expected to manage food safety, monitor inventory, prepare for service, address facility and customer needs both indoors and outdoors, and perform opening and/or closing duties

There are opening shifts on Weekdays from (6:30a-12:00p) and closing shifts (10:00a-3:30p). There's also Weekend availability from (6:30 - 1:00 , 9:00 - 3:30 and 10:00 - 2:00). We are looking for people who can work all days of the week, but limited availability is okay (i.e. 5 day / wk availability is not required). This is a great job for people looking for more flexibility in their schedule, or who love working in food but want to leave their evenings free.

***Our Retail Attendants are paid $12 hourly + pooled tips. We guarantee to meet a minimum pay of $15 per hour if tips do not reach that threshold (but tips usually average another $7-$15 additional per hour).***

Qualifications

- Experience in front-of-house foodservice or retail a major plus

- Food Protection Certification receives higher hourly

- Customer-service minded

- Team player with a can-do attitude - a good sense of humor is always appreciated!

- Ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently and effectively

- Ability to maneuver and communicate with accuracy, clarity and speed

- Reliable and accountable

- Basic math skills and experience with point-of-sale
