Inventory Manager Sequatchie Cove Creamery

  • Date Posted October 25, 2021
  • Location Sequatchie, TN
  • Category Business
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description Sequatchie Cove Creamery is a farmstead cheesemaking company, family owned and run. We operate a seasonal cow dairy as well as a cheesemaking facility, located in Sequatchie, TN (near Chattanooga in the Sequatchie Valley). Our team is small but very dedicated to the production of high quality milk and cheese, made by hand on the farm using traditional methods. Our commitment to high quality food production is founded on a dedication to regenerative agriculture & traditional cheesemaking methods, with the incorporation of modern science & technology in order to achieve sustainability in all aspects of our business.
We operate the dairy seasonally (Feb-Dec), and make cheese year-round. Our products are available year-round and sold all over the US. Job description The Inventory Manager is a very important role within our organization. It is a full time, year round position. The job requires typically between 30-35 hours per week, possibly more during heavy sales months (4th quarter). Compensation starts at $15/hour. Typical work schedule is Sunday - Thursday, with Fridays and Saturdays off.
Work is somewhat independent and self-managed, but happens alongside the rest of our small team within the production facility. We have a staff of 9 in total, between the production and sales sides of the business. The Inventory Manager provides an on-going direct link between production and sales.

Job Duties:
Weekly Order Fulfillment: pulling inventory and packing weekly orders, which are shipped throughout the US or delivered locally. Sundays - Wednesdays are most important work days, due to the heavy emphasis on getting orders out at the beginning of each week.

The work is fairly physically demanding - must be able to lift 50 lb boxes repeatedly throughout the work day. The job requires keeping up with incoming orders and short notice changes & sales updates throughout the sales week (Sunday-Thursday). There are many moving parts to the role, so it is important to be flexible and able to perform tasks on short notice.

Finished Product Inventory Tracking and Organization: Must be very organized, and ideally familiar with Excel spreadsheets, Google Docs and Sheets, and various other organizational tools. Includes keeping track of product coming up for sale, and managing allocations to customers, pre-orders, and staging for palletized shipments as well as packing for common carriers such as UPS and FedEx.

Supplies Inventory Management: Must keep track and maintain all supplies related to sales, shipping and packaging of the finished product.

Product Preparation for Retail Sale: Weekly preparation of cheeses for one local farmers market and one on-site retail outlet. Requires cutting, wrapping and pricing product weekly.

This is not an exhaustive list of duties, but sums up the most essential components of the job. We are very passionate about what we do, and are looking for an individual who shares our dedication to bringing great quality food to the marketplace. Our company practices open books management, and engages each team member to be a contributing partner. We look forward to hearing from you! Compensation this position is : hourly, $15-20/hr Application instructions
