Company description

The Bayard Cutting Arboretum CSA Farm is the only Community Supported Agriculture project in the New York State Parks system. The farm is located adjacent to the estate’s original barn, on land that was the former cow pasture of the Bayard Cutting estate. Currently, the farm has 2 ½ acres under cultivation, in addition to an herb garden. We abide by NOFA-NY (Northeast Organic Farming Association) guidelines and consider ourselves organic. We also care for 150 laying hens. CSA Members enjoy weekly vegetables, herbs and flowers, that they pick up on-site, from May/June through October.

Job description

The Farm Manager is responsible for overall management of the farm. He/ she is accountable to the Arboretum Director and works in conjunction with arboretum staff to fulfill the mission of the farm. The CSA is the only community sponsored agriculture project in the NYS parks system. In keeping with the mission of Bayard Cutting Arboretum, the farm pledges to uphold the principles of sustainable agriculture, using organic methods, relationship building, educational, and community outreach. In 2021 the three-acre farm produced high quality, organic produce for 100 families. The farm manager will be employed through the Natural Heritage Trust. (Housing not available).
