Newark Natural Foods is seeking an engaging, visionary General Manager to lead our community-owned food cooperative and Café in an increasingly competitive environment. Having deep roots in our community, we incorporated in 1975 to provide local, healthy foods to our members and have since grown to a 10,000 square foot grocery store, 2,500 square foot Café, and 6,000 square foot community space that has over 4,000 active member-owners, approximately 50 employees, and a multi-million dollar revenue. The General Manager will ultimately be responsible for board of stewards relations, financial viability of the Co-op, overseeing operations, and member/community relations.

The ideal candidate must demonstrate—

· Successful and progressive experience (10+ years) in operations and personnel management in the grocery and/or retail industry (previous AGM and/or GM experience a plus). Qualified candidates will be experienced grocery and/or retail managers with the ability to integrate daily business management practices, including finance, with visionary thinking to support the Co-op’s mission and objectives.

· A strong background and foundation in finance (including not limited to understanding and explanation of the P&L, budgeting, costing, etc.

· Track record of strategy to meet business objectives, sales goals and financial outcomes.

· Proven ability to lead by example overseeing all operational activities with a positive attitude and sense of teamwork.

· Ability to motivate and mentor team and manage in a cooperative environment.
