Founded in 2009, Wholesome Wave Georgia’s mission is to facilitate access to and awareness of healthy food choices for all Georgians in need through local farmers and community partners.

Wholesome Wave Georgia was launched as a statewide chapter of Wholesome Wave, the national organization, to double Federal Nutrition Assistance, such as SNAP benefits, at Georgia’s farmers markets. Since Wholesome Wave Georgia’s founding, Wholesome Wave Georgia has provided over $3.1 million in healthy food to Georgia families and revenue to Georgia’s small, independent farmers through our programs.   

Our Georgia SNAP Connection Program provides SNAP enrollment assistance and outreach to our neighbors in need of food assistance. The program provides outreach and assistance as a Community Partner of the Georgia Department of Children & Family Services, and expanded from 3 regular enrollment sites to 19, with a growing team of community partners.

JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Georgia Food for Health Program Manager, the Benefits Specialist screens and enrolls individuals and families for public benefits under the Georgia SNAP Connection program, with a focus on Wellstar members and Spanish-speaking neighbors. S/he is responsible for conducting SNAP outreach and SNAP enrollment activities, engaging with partner organizations and leaders, and performing administrative tasks to support program effectiveness and efficiency.

This is a dynamic role including activities such as:

• Coordinate, promote, and conduct SNAP outreach and enrollment activities in office and at community partner sites
• Use Salesforce to track and manage individual caseload and overall program activities
• Execute annual SNAP Outreach Plan, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed
• Engage with community partners and ambassadors by assisting with trainings and attending outreach events
• Regularly update timelines for ongoing reports and trainings
• Assist other Program Staff with outreach and administrative tasks as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a human service field such as Social Work, Public Health, Sociology or related field
• Fluent or high proficiency in Spanish - speaking, reading, and writing
• Experience with public benefits including SNAP/food stamps, Medicaid, CAPS, TANF, or WIC
• Experience using relationship databases preferred, Salesforce in particular
• High level of skill using Google G Suite products

COMPENSATION, TIME, AND CLASSIFICATION

• Salary: $48,000
• The position is full time, exempt at 40 hours per week.
• Flexible time-off and remote working.
• Highly flexible working conditions with the opportunity to work remotely, as needed.
• Position will be co-located out of Wholesome Wave Georgia’s Atlanta office and Wellstar Community Health Marietta office.
• This position includes an attractive benefits package including comprehensive health package, including medical, dental, life, and short-term disability insurance, and a 401k retirement savings plan.
• The individual in this role will occasionally be expected to work evenings and weekends for planned outreach activities, some of which may require overnight travel outside of the Atlanta area.
• We anticipate a start date of February 28, 2022.
