Role: The primary responsibility of the Garden Communications Coordinator is to provide critical office support to the Garden Communications Manager (GCM), the Garden Maintenance Team (GMT), as well as the President and TOG leadership. The GCC will work closely with the GCM to serve as the “hub” of communication between the GMT and garden clients, and to provide administrative support to the team. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Using TOG’s internal software and systems to keep the Garden Maintenance Team organized and prepared for garden visits. This includes scheduling, vehicle assignments, visit notes and reminders, and coordinating with clients, among other tasks
  • Using TOG’s client management software to add new client information and update current client information 
  • Data and information management including updating client folders and organizing crop lists/layouts 
  • Field client phone calls/emails/text messages and relay important information to appropriate TOG staff 
  • Assisting with office management including occasional purchasing of supplies and basic tech support 

Ideal candidate will possess: 

  • Background and/or degree in communications or office administration and strong interest in the sustainability and gardening field
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Two years of office related experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Ability to take direction and guidance well 
  • Competency working with the Google Suite (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Calendar) and office-based technology 
  • Ability to collaborate and work well with others as part of a team
  • Ability to commute to TOG’s Northbrook office

This is a part-time position with the option to scale up to full time as a Garden Educator. Pay is commensurate with experience.
