About the position

This is a new leadership position at Sky High Farm responsible for spearheading all institutional fundraising initiatives, including prospect research and donor cultivation, corporate giving, foundation research and grant writing. With the Chief Operating Officer, the Development Officer will steward all institutional grants across the lifecycle of awards, from application submission to reporting and close-out.

 

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the COO, the Development Coordinator will manage a dynamic fundraising ecosystem to ensure Sky High’s long-term impact. Responsibilities include:

  • Co-design (with the COO) an institutional fundraising strategy aligned with Sky High’s mission and organizational objectives
  • Establish fundraising goals and targets through grants, individual donations, events and corporate sponsorships/philanthropy
  • Steward existing donors and grants, including appropriate follow-up and reporting
  • Conduct prospect research and coordinate outreach to prospective donors
  • Research and respond to calls for proposals, including writing/submitting grant applications and preparing budgets
  • Coordinate with communications team on email campaigns and annual appeals
  • Plan fundraising events, such as Sky High’s annual gala

Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to Sky High’s mission of addressing systemic inequities in food systems
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Knowledge of fundraising research and databases
  • Experience with corporate, foundation and individual fundraising strategies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with multi-modal communication and marketing strategies, including email outreach and social media
  • Attention to detail, team-oriented
  • Knowledge of food systems and/or agriculture is a plus

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration preferred
  • At least two years of relevant professional work experience
  • Prior job experience working on grant writing and fundraising for nonprofits preferred
  • Must have strong writing skills to be considered

Work remotely 75-90%.

Teamwork is paramount. All Sky High leadership staff and personnel are required to participate in routine team meetings, performance reviews, safety trainings and internal policy reviews.
