Allrecipes is seeking a highly organized Editorial Director to lead its community & news/trending team. We are looking for a digitally savvy food enthusiast with first class communication and management skills. The primary focus of the role will be to manage a team to grow traffic and increase audience engagement on our site & extended platforms including social media. 

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of what makes high-quality, credible food content and 8–10 years managerial experience. Previous experience working in a fast paced environment is a must; experience with and passion for home cooking, community, and the food space preferred.

We are open to candidates in Birmingham, AL or New York, NY.

About Your Contributions

  • Define and implement editorial strategy to grow audience and drive user engagement

  • Oversee the execution of the community, news & trending content editorial strategy. Articulate brand voice, and positioning to increase audience and drive user engagement. 

  • Direct key programs and be responsible for the traffic results of those content initiatives

  • Lead content marketing strategies to grow audiences off-platforms including development of content designed to support email, social, Apple News and syndication platforms such as Flipboard. 

  • Manage content promotion planning and execution for social, onsite and partner with email teams to ensure channels reflect community & brand programs.

  • Lead editorial projects that enhance the reader’s experience.

  • Manage a team of editors, helping them develop their style and prioritize work

  • Work with cross-functional teams to foster community including product, video, growth (retention, conversion) and PR.

  • Oversee community team who support highly-engaged users and curate relationships with potential food enthusiasts to engage on Allrecipes including contributing content.

  • Track competitive landscape to identify trends and opportunities within the space 

  • Be a self-starter who leans into their work and takes a proactive approach day-to-day
     

 About You:

  • Bachelor's Degree; preferably in journalism 

  • 8–10 years of work experience in digital media, ideally in the food space

  • Collaborative and resourceful team player who takes initiative to work with internal stakeholders

  • Strong editorial skills; an eye for good writing and keen sense of what content works well online

  • Excellent project management skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, excellent verbal/written communication skills

  • Consistently up to date with industry trends related to food; able to identify topics of interest to a wide audience

  • Solid understanding of current SEO best practices

  • Experience with Google Analytics

  • Analytical skills to identify growth opportunities and measure effectiveness

  • Experience working cross-functionally, specifically with product & design teams

  • Experience managing editorial calendars and content operations at scale

  • Top-notch grammar and editing skills
