About Just Fare Design & Consulting

The Design & Consulting arm of our impact-driven food company Just Fare is looking to add an experienced kitchen designer with expert Revit skill and existing current software license to our team. You will be an essential part of our small and dedicated team, responsible for all technical drawings and working closely with our clients and consultants. This is a great opportunity for a designer looking to focus on changing food systems and the culinary world at-large. 

In this position you must be technically self-sufficient and be able to coordinate directly with the GA/AOR, MEP and other technical subconsultants on larger design-build project teams.

Though this is a project-based position to start, we are looking to develop it into a full-time position in the future! We will work with you project-by-project to determine scope, fees and project operations, and you'll get paid as a contractor on a 1099. And for the fun parts, you're invited to all our company gatherings and all-hands meetings, and we want you to feel like a member of the team!

Responsibilities:

  • Work with design project teams to develop and finalize equipment plans and specifications according to the approved budget.
  • Prepare design illustrations or rough sketches and presentation graphics, and create digital models.
  • Perform document production by developing design and technical drawings, and researching relevant information. Conduct code, permitting and product research.
  • Meet and coordinate with consultants and clients as needed, including scheduling, agendas and task management as they relate to design coordination.
  • Assist in maintaining well-organized project digital and physical files.
  • Work with the project team to evaluate individual project needs and coordinate with consultants.
  • Source material/project samples, obtain cost estimates from outside vendors and develop strong vendor relationships.
  • Creatively brainstorm and collaboratively develop concepts for new and improved kitchen elements including but not limited to - ergonomics, waste water recycling, minimal waste systems, energy and food conservation, bulk and in-house product development areas.

Skills & Experience:

  • Advanced proficiency in:
    • AutoDesk Revit
    • BIM 360
    • AutoCAD Architecture – Most recent versions.
    • AutoCAD MEP – Most recent versions.
  • Up-to-date working knowledge of general construction as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and processes as they relate to commercial kitchens and building systems.
  • Successful history of working with designers, architects, consultants, and project managers.
  • Strong understanding of food service equipment and supply applications.
  • Understanding of restaurant and commissary kitchen flow based on menu and operational structure is a plus.
  • Expert with code and permitting pertinent to food service design and operations.
  • Current, working knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; development software; design software.
