We're looking for an enthusiastic, hard-working individual to join our team as Field Operator (Driver) to help us serve the growing number of Maine households and businesses composting with us.
Field Operators are professionals trained to operate a truck and trailer on independent collection routes. The right candidate is someone who is ready to start early each day, work hard, and take pride in their daily accomplishments knowing they left the world a little better off than when they started.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Operates vehicle and performs all tasks in accordance with Garbage to Garden Official Standards and safety rules, OSHA, and DOT as well as all local, state and federal laws.
- Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents utilizing the DVIR.
- Follows route assignments as directed and completes end of day documentation and check out process.
- Performs all duties as scheduled by Manager or Dispatch and assists other field operators as directed.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs and meetings as required by Garbage to Garden or Manager.
- Works closely with Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Communicates customer requests to Dispatch.
- Notifies Manager of any incidents, accidents, or property damage.
- Notifies Dispatch of service interruptions.
- Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service related issues to Dispatch.
Qualifications:
- Standard Class C driving license with a clean driving record, required for insurance purposes.
- Preferred: Experience operating a trailer is preferred but not required.
- Preferred: Experience operating a vehicle requiring CDL / a valid Class A or B CDL is a plus
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Capable motor coordination; arm, hand, legs.
- Able to exert physical effort in handling (pushing, pulling, lifting, etc.) objects more than 75 pounds frequently.
