Reed’s Organic Farm (A Meaningful Purpose 501c3) is a Nonprofit Regenerative Farm and Animal Sanctuary located in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.  Our location is uniquely suited for our mission in our community, which is to become essentially a community hub for organic healthy food and an educational resource. Our vision involves working with underserved community members through programming and workforce development as well as helping to build a healthier food system with focus on nearby Atlantic City.

Farm Manager Position 2022

-Field management

-Irrigation upkeep and support

-Harvest projections and leading the crew for weekly bulk harvests schedules

-Assist and implement seeding regimen and schedule

-Transplanting and crop rotation implementation 

-Managing the established farm crew 

-Distribution management 

-Tractor work and assistance included but not limited to, bed forming, minor tilling, overhead watering 

-Cultivation

-Pruning and trellising for our tunnels 

-High tunnel maintenance, weeding, transplanting, monitoring

-Attention to detail for crop health and plant life 

-Reports to farm director 

Responsibilities

-Supervising farm crew and volunteer work force 

-Assist to oversee and manage 78 acres, 8 farmed acres, 3 production high tunnels 

-Inventory management and flow for current amendments, seeds, supplies 

Requirements

-5 full workdays, 40 hour weeks, one weekend day required during sales season from May-December

-Ability to lift 50lbs 

-Ability to work in the elements, rain, wind, heat, snow etc.

-Valid driver’s license

-High school or equivalent education

-Ability to adapt to new experiences, projects, people, unexpected events, and maintains objectives to shifting priorities

-Ability to take initiative and see tasks and projects through to completion 

Education/experience

-Minimum of 3 years of full season experience on a produce/flower farm 

-extensive knowledge on plant phases, soil health, regenerative practices

-experience working with farmers markets, CSA, farm stand sales, restaurant accounts  

-tractor/ machinery experience is welcomed, but not required

~Pay for this position is $18-$22 hourly and depends on experience
