The Putney School seeks a Garden Manager to start in July 2022.

The Putney School has 1.5 acres of land that is cultivated for growing mixed vegetables, in 4 gardens and 2 high tunnels on campus. Produce is harvested from the gardens February through November and served in the Dining Hall and sent to the local food pantry.
Job descriptionThe Garden Manager is responsible for leading the school’s production of food for the school’s kitchen, planning the curricular integration with the academic program, organizing and supervising student workers and making the work of growing food a learning experience. The Garden Manager reports to the Farm Manager, and will collaborate with the Food Services Director, the Work Program Director and academic teachers.

Qualifications:
- Real life experience growing food for market or substantial institutional use
- Successful experience working with teenagers
- Knowledge of plant and environmental science for integration into work and
curriculum
