Job descriptionJob Summary:
In the first program of its kind, Save that Stuff and Garbage to Garden are partnering to provide curbside food waste collection in the City of Boston beginning August 1, 2022.
We are looking for hardworking professional drivers to join our team and grow with us as we launch this new program to provide food scrap recycling to Boston residents!
Drivers will be trained to operate our state-of-the-art custom collection vehicles and will work closely with STS and GTG to scale this program as it grows. The right candidate is someone who is ready to start early each day, work hard and fast to complete 500 stops per day in one neighborhood, and take pride in their daily accomplishments knowing they left the world a little better off than when they started.
Responsibilities:
- Operates vehicles and performs all tasks in accordance with company standards and safety rules, OSHA and DOT regulations, as well as all local, state and federal laws.
- Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and documents utilizing the DVIR.
- Completes route assignments as directed in a safe and efficient manner, seeing through to completion despite potential obstacles.
- Performs all duties as scheduled by Manager or Dispatch and assists other drivers as directed
- Attends and participates in all required training programs and meetings
- Communicates to Dispatch regarding customer requests, contamination problems or other issues with accounts, additional unidentified buckets, and anything else out of the ordinary.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs and meetings as required by Operations Manager
- Works closely with Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Communicates prompt and accurate information related to customer requests, service interruptions, accidents, incidents, or unsafe situations.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States
- Current MA class D license
- CDL license preferred but not required
- Clean driving record
- Ability to repeatedly bend, twist, lift, throw, push, pull and exert physical effort in handling objects more than 50 lbs
- Comfort working in a variety of climates and environmental conditions
- Familiarity with Android operating system and Google maps.
- Must be proficient in English language
- Strong verbal communication and time management skills
- Customer service mindset
Compensation: $45.56/hour
