Job description

This position supports The Good Acre team in performing a variety of accounting and human resource responsibilities. It requires the ability to work with ambiguity and to be motivated and flexible.  It is also important that this person has a passion for nonprofits and the work of The Good Acre. This role follows a flexible hybrid work model of 2+/- days in-office per week. At this time we are only considering local candidates in the Twin Cities region. 
 

Accounting Coordination

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, and payroll; maintains associated records
  • Prepares financial statements and reports
  • Reconcile monthly billing for kitchen and warehouse, issue invoices
  • Enter website sales receipts in QuickBooks; log incoming checks and cash
  • Corresponds with HR and/or accounting vendors and customers via mail or phone
  • Act as the primary user for online banking accounts, including filing statements, managing users, changing passwords
  • Manage bank deposits and associated record-keeping
  • Other duties pertaining to financial transactions as assigned
  • Support Operations Manager office purchases, including supplies, maintenance, and cleaning services
  • Support board of directors in an annual audit

Human Resources (HR) coordination:

  • Utilizing best practices, develop, implement and update HR policies and procedures
  • Update, maintain and distribute employee handbook; ensure compliance under the direction and at the discretion of the executive director
  • Administer PTO
  • Coordinate recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of new employees
  • Prepare and manage employee files and required documentation
  • Serve as administrator on TGA payroll and benefits vendor sites
  • Process annual open enrollment; ensure accuracy, maintain confidentiality; investigate and resolve discrepancies; process changes in status; issue an annual summary of benefits; serve as the primary resource for staff regarding benefits
  • Support conducting workers' compensation audit

 

Qualifications

The individual in this position not only brings experience and expertise in this role but also a passion for our local food system and for supporting the work of The Good Acre. This role has the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of our business. The skills needed for this position include:

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work with ambiguity and take initiative
  • Ability to work with a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently as well as be a supportive team member
  • Ability to work with people from different cultures
  • Strong computer skills and PC/software aptitude; proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and data management

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s Degree in accounting or bookkeeping, or two years of previous related office experience.
  • Human resource experience is a plus.
Compensation

The salary range for this full-time position is $46,000 - $51,000 depending on experience.
