Allandale Farm is a vegetable farm and plant nursery on the border of Jamaica Plain and Brookline. We are sustainable growers and retailers, operating a seasonal store on the farm from March-December with a vibrant, caring, hard-working team of employees. We are currently hiring for a positive self-starter to join our committed team. This role is seasonal part or full time, March through mid-December, with year round potential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

• Building and infrastructure repair and maintenance, including project planning and general carpentry
• Forklift operation (e.g. receiving deliveries; organizing and stocking-out soil pallets)
• Basic vehicle and equipment maintenance
• General landscaping around the store and office complex
• Property management, such as maintaining irrigation ditches and compost pile 
• Animal care for two steer and some chickens; including feeding, barn maintenance and supply ordering
• Delivery driving occasionally and as needed, with regular driving duties July-September, ~6-8 hours/week
• Maintain an organized workspace, including keeping tools in good working condition and necessary supplies on hand
• Flexibility to pitch in on other farm jobs as needed (e.g. greenhouse, field work)
• 32-40 hours per week March through mid-December
• Weekend work as needed (e.g. driving tractor pulled hayrides in the fall)
• Reports to General Manager, but works on projects with the entire management team

Qualifications:

• Proven skill with the safe operation of power tools and mechanical equipment
• General carpentry skills
• Able to comfortably lift/haul 50 lbs and work outside all day in all conditions 
• Adherence to environmentally sustainable workplace practices
• Commitment to workplace and community equity and inclusion measures
• English/Spanish language proficiency helpful
• COVID-19 vaccinations and booster required for employment

Compensation:

• $18-$22/ hour, commensurate with experience
