We are growing rapidly. We currently operate in LIC and are moving to a brand new production space in Hunts Point in the Bronx next year where we will launch our cheeses and yogurts in additional to milks, nut butters, nut flours, and snack bites.
We are looking for a passionate food maker with an interest in leading a team in our kitchen to help us grow and scale our business.
Role Objectives:
- Lead the production team according to health and safety codes and Nuthatch’s company rules
- Produce our weekly orders
- Manage the kitchen and production of Nuthatch products
- Work with and train new kitchen team members
Schedule/Hours Per Week: 35-40 hours (Full-Time)
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday
Responsibilities:
Management
- Train kitchen staff in all aspects of production, help them grow their skills
- Ensure efficient production - this includes altering the flow of the kitchen and tweaking production
- Weekly Production Metrics + Daily Bottle Returns tracking in the kitchen
- Monthly review of production metrics with manager
Inventory Management
- Track inventory weekly in our google sheet
- Restock inventory
- Notify in slack when we are low in inventory
Kitchen Repairs + Cleaning/Organization
- Ensure proper procedures are in place for pest management. Be present to let Pest Management in once a month to spray (2nd Wed of every month)
- Clean fridges, floor, and machinery weekly
- Wash returned bottles and add count to tracker
- Ensure kitchen is neat and orderly - things are put away, expired products thrown away (notify in slack for write offs)
- Maintain machinery in the kitchen or alert owner if service is needed
Production Prep
- Make tags prior to production
- Review tracker and delivery sheet
Production
- Lead team in producing the orders for that day
- Ensure delivery sheet is correct and printed
- Ensure customer flyers and love notes are included where appropriate
- Process almond meal into flour and butter
- Fill almond flour and almond butter jars
Packaging
- Fulfill orders to go out for delivery
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience working in commercial kitchens
- Experience leading a team in the kitchen
- Food Handler's License
Compensation and Benefits:
- 2 weeks (50 hours) of paid time off, accruing at 0.038 hrs per hour worked
