Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

As an operations leader, you will manage the facility needs of our HQ at Chelsea Market and support the developing outpost locations to run as Hot Bread Kitchen program facilities.  Reporting to the Director of People & Operations, you will oversee the day-to-day needs of the facilities, including cleanliness, sanitation, safety and security.  You will support program staff in readying the facilities for programming and events.  This position hires and manages facility vendors and liaises with building management regarding maintenance and repairs. The hours of this role will be approximately 1:00 pm through 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility. The Evening Operations Manager will directly manage the Evening Porter. 

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General Facility Management: You will supervise facilities to create a safe, clean and compliant space for staff and members. 
 
  • Program team support: You will partner with the program staff to prepare our facility for upcoming training cohorts, as well as our community cohorts across NYC. This includes managing vendors, equipment, and overseeing delivery schedules for the kitchen staff.
 
  • HQ Rentals and Events: You will support partner rentals of our facility and be the direct contact for external vendors, liaison with building management companies and collaborate with the ops team for general event coordination. 
 
  • Oversee Porter: You are a people manager able to communicate effectively, provide clear feedback, and support the porter to accomplish their responsibilities. 
 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in facilities management
  • Enjoy working in a high-paced, high-growth environment with strong organizational and collaborative skills
  • Knowledge of facilities systems, vendor management systems, operations, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity with operation & maintenance of kitchen equipment
  • Keen eye for preventing and/or attending to personnel safety issues
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to deliver work on assigned schedules
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate and work effectively with all levels
  • Demonstrated ability to act decisively and independently to resolve issues
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to learn new software as necessary. Ability to fully utilize email, electronic calendars, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Slack
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing 50 pounds
 

LOCATION AND HOURS

This position requires regular in-person attendance at our facility in Chelsea Market and manages our evening cohorts. Hours for the will be from 1:00 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Some events may require weekend hours. We follow New York City and State guidelines on COVID-19 vaccination and masking. 

 

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time position. The salary range is $65,000- 70,000 and is commensurate with experience. Hot Bread Kitchen's comprehensive benefits package includes health/vision/dental insurance (available from day one), 401K contributions, flexible vacation time, paid parental leave, and a sabbatical program.
