  • Location Southampton, NJ
  • Category Agriculture / Education
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description Rancocas Creek Farm is a project of the Pinelands Preservation Alliance in Southampton, NJ.  Formed in 2020, we are working on 73 acres traditionally farmed in conventional soybeans for decades, and creating a chemical-free, diverse, regenerative faming operation.  We have spent the past 3 seasons making capital improvements, planting trees, spreading compost, cover cropping and in 2021 we had a 20 week CSA for over 150 families.  In 2023 we plan on having 250 CSA members. Rancocas Creek Farm is at the start of what we hope will be a long and successful transformation of land to support high quality food, birds and beneficial insects, livestock, improved soil health and carbon sequestration and community involvement.  We are partners with Pinelands Preservation Alliance, a dynamic non-profit working to protect New Jersey's Pinelands for the past 30 years Job description Our goal is to find qualified individuals, provide them with proper training and oversight, and give them tasks working with others or individually that require responsibility and quality work. The farm workload, especially in the summer months, is heavy, so we all try to approach jobs with the goal of getting them done in a manner that is “Thorough and Quick”. That is, we want to do all of our jobs well and also in a timely manner. Farm work can be tough and physically demanding; that is just the reality of the profession. Our goal is to help beginning farmers learn the ropes, get acclimated to the pace and have success helping to run a productive farm operation. Candidates don’t need to be physical superstars, but they should possess a certain level of fitness and ability to handle physical work, day-in and day-out in all kinds of weather. We aim to provide Apprentices with a very full, productive and rewarding farm season. At the end of the year, Apprentices will have developed a solid foundation for understanding the principles of sustainable, regenerative agriculture and how to manage the daily challenges and ins and outs of the farm season. Compensation this position is : hourly, $15-20/hr Application instructions
