Established in 2008, the Lansdale Farmer's Market is a farmer/producer-only market serving the greater Lansdale area. With special emphasis on recruiting/retaining local vendors using and producing local products, LFM is one of Pennsylvania's premier weekly markets. Our mission is to maintain a seasonal farmers market that supports local producers of healthy, nourishing foods and quality, crafted goods. We desire to build community while providing educational programs that promote local, sustainable living.
Job description
Lansdale Farmers Market operates from May until December on Saturdays from 9am to 12:30pm and January through May on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 10am to 12pm in the parking lot of the Penndale Middle School.
We are seeking a Market Manager to oversee Saturday operations before, during and after market hours. Responsibilities include:
Saturday market setup;
supporting vendor needs during market;
ensuring vendors adhere to LFMs standards and local health/business codes/requirements;
mediating/resolving conflicts;
communicating via email issues relevant to vendor participation;
weekly updates via email to customers;
addressing customer questions and concerns;
managing the market's social media accounts;
managing the market's events calendar; and,
participating in monthly board meetings.
Qualified candidates will have extensive knowledge/experience with farmer's markets, ideally having participated as a vendor or market manager. Farming experience is a plus. Applicants should have a strong customer service focus with experience in retail customer facing roles; supervisory experience is preferred. Time management, attention to detail and the ability to communicate in person with large groups of people are required. Social media management experience is required. As LFM is a local market, focused on local producers, we prefer a candidate with civic, business and/or personal ties to the greater Lansdale region.
