The Mill Glen Arbor is seeking an Assistant Pastry Chef to work directly with the Head Baker to create, implement, and maintain quality products and sanitation standards for the bakery/pastry department.

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities 

• At least 2 years of experience in a senior role in a culinary environment 
• At least 2 years of experience in pastry production 
• High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, proven track record in high volume property, effective communicator 
• Commitment to quality - consistently upholding and improving defined standards over time
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
• Must have the ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently 
• Must possess excellent communication and leadership skills
• Must keep up with cooking trends and best practices
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office software 
• Must be able to produce work in a timely manner, which is accurate, complete, and of high quality

Responsibilities 

• Daily tasks include pastry production, receiving orders and FIFO ingredients & mise en place, communicating with the Head Baker anything that needs to be ordered
• Participate in development of SOPs in direct partnership with Head Baker 
• Reliably assist in delivering baked goods to multiple properties 
• Ensure all bakery and food operations are in compliance with all legislated health and licensing guidelines; ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations and procedures
• Train, supervise, and develop bakery staff 
• Actively work to promote and recognize performance 

Physical Requirements

Physical demands include standing and walking for long periods of time, occasional lifting, medium work, which includes exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or in excess of 30 pounds of force frequently, and /or in excess of 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
