The farm cultivates a wide variety of fruits and vegetables grown in gardens, greenhouses, and orchards. The Vegetable Gardener will work as part of a team under the direction of the Production Supervisor to maintain and support the production of the estate’s diverse vegetable garden in keeping with our horticultural standards.   

 
Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Harvesting and washing of fruit and vegetables with a main emphasis on berries during peak season 
  • Harvesting and processing of cut flowers 
  • Watering, composting and mulching garden beds 
  • Weeding, hoeing, and cultivating crops 
  • Seed sowing and transplanting 
  • Helping install trellis structures and training crops 
  • Assist with farmer’s market set-up and point of sale at Kent Barn’s as needed 

 

Qualities 

  • Adherence to high aesthetic standards in all areas 
  • Interact effectively with other staff to ensure clear communication 
  • Ability to use vegetable hand tools 
  • Basic knowledge of vegetable gardening techniques
  • Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions 
  • Able to perform physically strenuous tasks and be able to lift up to 40lbs 
  • Motivated to work independently and able to take directions 

 

Requirements: At least 1 year of experience working at a production vegetable, fruit, or flower farm 

 

Reports to: Production Supervisor 

Job Type: Seasonal position (June through September) 

Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm 

Salary: $18/hr
