About the Role:

The Café Lead will be responsible for the overall management and day-to-day performance of the on-campus café at Mercy High School in Baltimore, MD. The Café Lead will have day-to-day operational decision making, as well as input into strategic decisions, for the betterment of the program. In addition, this team member will help to shape the on campus café experience across The Yay Company, as we roll this concept out to other schools.

You will:

• Hire, train, and manage team members including scheduling, payroll, and working with HR on employment matters
• Be the primary point of contact for school administrators at The Yay Company
• Follow current and help create new SOPs for service and cafe function
• Ensure faculty is kept organized and clean
• Daily and weekly inventory management, ordering, and receiving
• Logistic management of supply pick up
• Work with marketing for and merchandising for special theme events
• Monitor all product to ensure proper rotation and code date management
• Conduct weekly team meetings and daily standups
• Work with internal customer service team to resolve issues
• Be responsible for shrink and waste management
• Manage day-to-day operations and be a hands on team member in all operations of service
• Be available for emergency issues involving the team or the café
• Work with Leadership to identify opportunities for growth, and develop execution plan, including economic impact
• Oversight of nearby routes servicing other schools

You must be:

• Quick to resolve problems

• Detailed oriented + hyper-organized, meeting business objectives
• Collaborative and willing to jump in and take on any job
• Able to stay calm under pressure
• Personable, engaging, and able to discuss the program with a Head of School and a favorite dish with a 4th grader

You must have:

• Food management experience, preferably cafe, catering or small restaurant
• Proficiency with Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Word, Hangout, etc.)
• Strong time management skills
• Experience hiring and developing an hourly workforce
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• A reliable personal vehicle - this job requires driving to pick up food, meet vendors, procure supplies, etc. Because our primary service is delivering food to schools, most people that work for Yay are driving. We reimburse mileage at a current rate of $.67 per mile, subject to increase based on gas prices, and cover tolls and parking. 
• Great driving record, & car insurance - both required for insurance purposes
• Meticulous attention to detail - whether keeping the cafe clean and organized or entering data for ordering management
