Company description Waxwing Farm is a 4+ acre certified Organic vegetable farm just outside of Mount Vernon, WA in the Skagit Valley.  We provide produce to our community primarily through our Farmstand.  Our focus is on high quality produce, community, and efficient sustainable farming practices.  We are entering our eighth season, and looking forward to a fun and productive year!

We are currently hiring for our main field crew position and are also looking for part time help as well.

Hours: 5 day a week full time position available

Schedule:

Main season: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday,

Early season: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

9am-5pm early and late season, 8am-4pm warmer months

Season: Full time May through October, with Part time hours April and late October into early November. Some potential for extra hours during busy season if desired.

Compensation: $16.50-$18.50/hr D.O.E, plus farm produce

Primary Tasks include but are not limited to:

-Harvesting
-Washing and packing
-Hand weeding and cultivation
-Transplanting, trellising, pruning, dealing with row cover and irrigation

-Washing harvest tubs, general cleanup

-Other responsibilities during the season dependent on interest and seasonal needs.
 
Requirements:

Reliable and timely.

Full season commitment with minimal time off requests.

Similar physical work experience preferred but not necessary.

Must be physically fit, able to lift 50 lbs. and kneel and squat for long periods of time.

A strong work ethic and the ability to keep pace, anticipate tasks and maximize flow.

Hardy, can meet the challenges of farm work and repetitive tasks.

Great attention to detail, and willingness to learn and stick to our systems.

Quick to gain familiarity with vegetables and an eye for subtle quality differences.

Work well with others and independently.

Receive and expect constructive feedback.

Confidence to make mistakes and learn from observation.

Able to work outside in all sorts of weather including sun, cold, rain, and heavy smoke.

The enthusiasm to learn about small-scale organic farming and have fun doing it!
