Torit Montessori School is an infant through sixth-grade independent school on Boston’s historic Beacon Hill. Our mission is to educate bright and capable students in the spirit of Dr. Maria Montessori’s groundbreaking methods, allowing students to explore materials, ideas, and applications at their own pace, with guidance, direction, and encouragement from teachers.

POSITION AVAILABLE: KITCHEN TEAM MEMBER, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, MONDAY-FRIDAY

We take pride in our unique, scratch kitchen lunch program for age groups infants through elementary. 

High quality, nutritious meals are created daily with most dishes made from fresh, often local, organic ingredients. Our kitchen supports traditional, vegetarian, and vegan diets while accommodating all allergies and other dietary restrictions.

DESCRIPTION and REQUIREMENTS:
 

The Kitchen Team Member fills a vital role in our small school and requires a positive, team-oriented person who enjoys kitchen work and being around kids and busy teachers. The role reports to our School Chef. The position is year-round and is eligible for benefits including health, dental, 401(k) retirement with a school match, and transportation reimbursement. Compensation is $22/hr, paid every two weeks as a salaried position.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
 

• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen.
• Properly wash, stack, and store dishes, food prep equipment and cookware.
• Portion, label, distribute meals to classrooms.
• Assist with receiving/stocking deliveries.
• Assist with food prep.
• Assist in accommodating staff requests/needs on a daily basis.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1 year+ of experience in a professional kitchen environment
• food safety certification
• CORI/SORI background check (required to work with kids)
• Associates Degree a plus, but not required
• Dependable and timely
• Self-motivated
• Able to follow directions as a team player
• Honest and trustworthy
• Able to multitask
• Enjoys troubleshooting
• Strong communication skills
