V Smiley Preserves makes Good Food Award winning honey sweetened preserves. We specialize in intricate textured flavors, making no-added pectin preserves, investing in our local foodshed, and supporting organic growing practices.

Bristol Vermont is a stellar little town located in Addison County. The area is agricultural and adjacent to the mountain communities of Lincoln and Starksboro. We are a 40 minute drive to Burlington, 25 minutes to Middlebury.

Job description

Position Overview

• Hone baking skills alongside pastry chef and veteran baker, Andrea, who helmed King Arthur’s bakery before joining Minifactory
• Hang out with lots of local produce.
• Build your alternative baking skills (working with alternative sweeteners, vegan, GF and Paleo baking)
• Build your traditional baking skills
• Help produce a range of baked goods from scones, biscuits, cornbread, cakes & cookies to an extensive menu of gluten free, grain free and alternatively sweetened items. Plus laminated items like danishes and brioche based buns.
• Already an experienced baker looking for a lovely part time gig? we would love to meet you! And this role can be shifted to be meaningful for an experienced baker as well.

You report to: V Smiley

Schedule - flexible. We are closed on Tuesdays & Thursdays. This can be a majority weekday job. Regular weekend availability is not a requirement. You'd learn how to do the morning bake and be available to occasionally provide coverage on weekends.

Shifts - mornings to mid afternoon.

Hours: 20-27 hours / week

• Think creatively and consistently about best work flows to accomplish your prep list
• Be a good, active listener
• Goal focused, but also about to zoom out recognize the flow of tasks surrounding you like checking in orders, keeping the dish pit clear, asking co-workers if they need an extra hand, re-stocking pastries in the case
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills
• Attentive to detail

• Wage of $20+ up DOE
• Two weeks paid time off
